In the wake of the Orlando shooting on June 12, 2016, we created these patches with the intent of helping others create their own safe space.
The safecamp symbol originated within traveling communities as a symbol of physical safety.
Sometimes refered to as "hobo code", travelers and vagabonds used the image to mark locations that were safe for other fellow travelers.
The rock band, Circa Survive, adopted this variation as their logo in order to help create musical and creative safe spaces. Here is what their guitarist, Colin Frangicetto, had to say:
"It means "you won't get arrested here or you won't get hurt here, you're safe with us. Basically we wanted to take that meaning to a more philosophical safety. We want to make people feel that its safe to be themselves, to think for themselves, to be who they want to be, free from judgement, classification, and ridicule"
We hope that these patches help others communicate that intent.
100% of the proceeds from these patches will be donated to one of the following causes of your choice:
Art of Survival (www.artissurvival.com)
Sacramento LGBT Community Center (www.saccenter.org)
The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (www.EFSGV.org)
Please let us know which cause you would like to donate to.
Donations are available at $3, $5, $10 and $15.
PATCHES COME IN ONE SIZE: 5in x 6in
Hand screen printed on black canvas patch with white waterbased ink
